How does Peak tune my skis prior to shipping?
The skis are ready to go, all you need to do is get your bindings mounted at a quality service shop.
The bases are waxed and feature the best stone ground finish that money can buy. All of our skis feature a one degree base bevel and a 1.5 side edge bevel and finished with a ceramic grinder.
We tested other edge angles and found that these work best with our reduced sidecuts and KeyHole Technology. But if you like a two degree side edge bevel would work great too.
As part of our quality control routine, we triple check all of the above with true bars and calipers. And before we put the ski in the box to you, we gently treat the edges with a soft "gummy stone" to remove any remaining tuning burrs or tarnish.
Depending on how many days you ski and the conditions you find, we would recommend that you de-burr and wax your skis a few times over the season. Or get a fresh tune if you're skiing a lot of true hardpack or rocky conditions.
